Portrait Drawing
$300.00
Workshop Dates: 11/15/2013 - 11/17/2013
Location: Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio
United States
This 3-day workshop will start with portrait drawing where we focus on the fundamentals of drawing; seeing big, simple shapes and sensing the bony structures within. A likeness is gained not just by the details, but by developing a sculptural sense of the masses.
We will work with conte, vine charcoal or hard pastel to create a broad painterly effect. We will work into longer poses on the second day and begin to explore how paint creates the masses and structures of the head on day 3, building on what has been learned with drawing.
The student can draw for three days, or shift to painting on the third day. I will demonstrate daily in drawing and in paint.
