David's education as a painter began with the Art Students League in New York City. David Leffel was his primary influence and instructor among the many fine instructors at the League he was fortunate to study with.

David’s education has continued with many workshops in still-life and landscape painting.
Presently he is living and teaching in Portland, Oregon.
